Joyce Williams, 83, of Cambridge, Iowa, passed away on March 16, 2025, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa. Born December 20, 1941, in Elkhart, Iowa, Joyce graduated from Ballard High School in 1959. She was the beloved daughter of Lester and Mina (Shearer) Williams.
Joyce dedicated 36 years of her career to medical insurance billing at Story County Medical Center. She also was proud to have worked for US Department of Energy Ames Lab as well as Huxley Family Physicians for Dr. Pete. Her meticulous work and commitment were admired by colleagues and appreciated by countless patients.
Beyond her professional life, Joyce had a passion for gardening, embroidery, crocheting, and playing the piano. She found joy in attending sporting events for her nieces and nephews, always cheering them on with enthusiasm.
Joyce was deeply invested in her community, serving diligently on the Cambridge Historical Society Board and actively participating with the Ballard Alumni. She was also a cherished member of the Ideal Rebekahs Lodge #493, where she contributed for 40 years.
Joyce is survived by one niece, one nephew, three great-nieces, one great-nephew, ten great-great nieces and nephews, and many close friends who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Lavern Lee Williams, and her sister Erma Bell Wilson.
A funeral service will be Friday March 21st at 11:00am with visitation one hour prior at Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home (1418 Fawcett Pkwy) in Nevada. She will be laid to rest at Cambridge Cemetery in Cambridge. Memorials can be made in Joyce's name to: Trinity Methodist Church in Huxley, Cambridge Fire Department, The Dorcas Society and to the Cambridge historical Association.
