Obituary published on Legacy.com by Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home on Jun. 27, 2025.
Joyce Marie Ziegler, age 74, a resident of North Aurora, IL, formerly of Chicago, Des Plaines and Carterville, IL, passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Asbury Gardens in North Aurora. She was born on January 20, 1951, in Chicago, IL.
Beloved daughter of the late Peter and Martha (nee Pionke) Ziegler, dear sister of Carol (James, Sr.) Pluskota, Melvin (Charlene) Ziegler, Ralph (the late Patricia) Ziegler, Paul (Joann) Ziegler, Nancy (Marc) Albertario, the late Peter Ziegler, Jr. and the late Don (Nina) Ziegler, sister-in-law of June Yadgir and the late Anne Ziegler, adored aunt of 16, great-aunt of 17 and great-great aunt of 1, goddaughter of the late Patricia Pionke and Alexander Bellinder, loving companion of Usman, fond cousin and friend of many. Joyce now joins her late pets, Jemma, Jasmine, and Jocelyn.
One of eight children, Joyce greatly loved and valued her family and friends. With a big heart for animals, her three dogs were the center of her life and her pride and joy. They spent many special years together. Joyce was a loving and doting fur mom who loved other dogs as if they were her own.
Joyce had lots of meaningful and memorable experiences. She began working for Jewel Foods early in her life, dedicating 33 years to the company. In her free time, she visited the Bahamas and spent time with her friends and family. While the Chicagoland area was Joyce's original home, she spent many of her latter years in Southern Illinois, making an impact on those who got to know her and developing an extended family through her church, Holy Spirit (Carterville, IL), and her neighborhood.
Joyce enjoyed sitting on her porch with her dogs (and neighbor dogs who often visited) and volunteering at her church. Some of her favorite hobbies were shopping, cooking, driving, listening to music, enjoying the outdoors, and treating herself to an occasional goody from McDonalds. She appreciated the little things and never took life for granted. Having limited resources, Joyce always gave from her heart.
In Joyce's memory, let's hug our families and friends, laugh with one another, smile at dogs playing, and marvel at the beauty of life. Let's hope that we can catch a glimpse of the splendor that Joyce is experiencing now in her heavenly home. May she rest in peace and be surrounded by love and light.
