Juan P. Arocha, affectionately known as John or Johnny by friends and family, passed peacefully into eternal rest on January 15, 2025, at the age of 71 in Floresville, Texas, surrounded by the warmth and love of his family. He was born on May 5, 1953, in Floresville, Texas, to Alfredo Arocha Sr. and Juanita Perez Arocha.
Mr. Arocha was a "jack of all trades" who had the ability to fix anything. He worked for several different entities throughout Bexar and Wilson Counties. After retiring, he opened his tire shop in Graytown, always willing to help his neighbors.
Juan was born into a family of talented self-taught musicians. In his early musical career, he played with his brothers and sisters at the ranch and local venues. He recorded many albums and toured across the country as the bass guitar player and backup vocalist for Santiago Jimenez Jr. and other talented musicians in the San Antonio area. Although he could play any instrument, his love for the accordion was evident when he formed his band, Los Amables of Juan Arocha, and recorded several albums throughout his musical career.
While he loved playing music, the greatest love of his life was his wife of 51 years and his family.
As we mourn the loss of Juan P. Arocha, we also celebrate a beautifully lived life. He made a profound impact on everyone he met, and his memory will be cherished in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He will be deeply missed, but the legacy of his generous and loving spirit will live on forever. Those who knew Juan would describe him as a man strong in faith, always ready to lend a hand, with strong values emphasizing the importance of family and love for his community.
Juan is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Esteban Arocha, Rudy Arocha, Tony Arocha, and Alfredo Arocha Jr., along with his sisters Olga Carreon and Mary Jane Lopez.
Left to cherish his memories and carry on his legacy are his wife, Juanita Arocha; two sons, Johnny (Denise) Arocha and James (Terry) Arocha; nine grandchildren, Johnny Arocha III, Jeremy Arocha, Lauren Meyer, James Arocha Jr., Desirae Gallegos, Ryan Peebles, Joshua Arocha, Joseph Arocha, and Jayden Arocha; and seven great-grandchildren, with another on the way.
Visitation will be held at Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Holy Rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM that same evening. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with interment to follow at Graytown Cemetery.
Juan's family would like to extend sincere thanks to the doctors and staff at Connally Memorial Hospital for their professionalism, compassion, and exceptional care during his time there.
