Juan Enrique Esquivel

Juan Enrique Esquivel (known to many as Juan, Enrique, or "Kique"), 59, of Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, gained his wings on January 21, 2026.

Enrique was born on July 14, 1966 in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, and in 1977 his family moved to Garden City, Kansas. He had a deep passion for soccer, drawing, writing songs, singing, dancing, playing jokes on people, and proudly serving as a family and friends "Uber." His love for his wife and grandchildren was infinite, and he spent as much time with them as he possibly could. Enrique was loving, caring, generous, and hardworking. He was a member of the first Matachines group in Garden City and danced for many years with great pride. He worked at Exide in Salina and IBP (Tyson) in Holcomb, Kansas. Most recently, he worked at Schaeffler in Ciudad Juárez, where he was cherished and respected by many.

He will be remembered for his joyful spirit, his big heart, and the love he gave so freely to everyone around him.

Enrique is survived by his wife-Katrina S. Esquivel; mother-Juanita Esquivel both of Garden City, KS; his children-Maria Esquivel, Salina, KS, Enrique (Mattie) Esquivel, Salina, KS, Isaac (Edith) Esquivel, Garden City, KS; He leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Davian (Kira), Alex, Khyri, Naomi Kailani, Aliyah, Vianey, Isabella, Maleni, Leonel and Benjamin, whom he loved beyond measure. He is also survived by his siblings-Humberto (Norma) Esquivel, Toño Esquivel, Mela (Frank) Vigil, Luis Fernando Esquivel, Carmen (José) Martinez, Lusi Esquivel, Chela Esquivel, Dr. Sonia (Ramon Rios) Esquivel, Laura (Manuel) Elguera. Not to mention, his many nieces, and nephews, that he loved like his own. He will be missed beyond measure by us all including his pets-Fluffy and Chanclas. He is preceded in death by his son- Jacob Nathaniel Esquivel, father-Juan Esquivel, and brother-Martin Esquivel.

A Rosary will be held at 12:00 pm Thursday January 29, 2026 followed by a 12:30 pm Funeral Mass both at St Mary Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery. The family requests donation to the Juan Enrique Esquivel Memorial Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 412 N 7th Street, Garden City, KS 67846.
