Juan Garlitos, Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2025, at Sturgill Hospice House in Spring Hill, Florida, surrounded by his loving family.
Known affectionately as "Jhun" to his close family and friends, Juan was born on July 20, 1934, in Manila, Philippines. He was the only son among four children of the late Juan Garlitos, Sr. and Amanda Arzalem. After graduating from Mapúa Institute of Technology, he pursued a fulfilling career in engineering.
In the 1980s, Juan and his wife made a life-changing decision to move their family from the Philippines to the United States—an act of courage and hope that became a lasting legacy of love and opportunity.
Juan was the devoted husband of 57 years to Corazon (Cora) Garlitos and the proud father of two daughters, Alexis and Marie (Joyce). As a father and husband, he was a constant source of wisdom, encouragement, and warmth—whether helping with life’s big questions or the smallest math problems. His playful sense of humor and kind spirit brightened every room he entered.
Juan will be remembered for his gentle nature, lightheartedness, and the steadiness he brought to difficult times. He had a deep love for reading—especially mystery, spy, and thriller novels—and found joy in retirement solving crossword puzzles and Sudoku, and exploring world history.
He is survived by his loving wife, Cora; his daughter, Marie; and his four cherished grandchildren: Gigi, Pres Jr., Dylan, and Eli. He also leaves behind extended family—cousins, nieces, nephews, son-in-laws—as well as dear friends who will miss him deeply.
A private funeral service for family and close friends will be held on October 18, 2025, at Pinecrest Funeral Chapel in Spring Hill, Florida, to honor Juan’s life and legacy.
