Juan Manuel Marrero was born March 10, 1959, in Dilley, Texas, to Lydia Briseño Marrero and Santos Marrero. Sadly, he lost both parents at a very young age, but happily, his mother's parents Manuel and Petra Briseño were able to raise him and care for him.
Juan attended Dilley schools as well as school in Indiana while traveling with extended family to pick crops. His grandma was an excellent cook and always had food ready to share when family came over.
Juan also attended Job Corps in San Antonio, Texas, where he learned to weld and box. He enjoyed working out by hitting the speed bag and heavy bag. He later attended truck driving school and started his driving career driving "big trucks" (semis) for over 40 years, traveling to 48 states and Canada. He had a perfect driving record and many safety awards and was very proud of his backing-up skills!
In 1976, Juan moved to Norman, Oklahoma, where his uncle, aunt, and cousins had made their home. He got a job at Gilt Edge Dairy where he met his future wife, Cindy Maynard, in 1977. They married July 21, 1979, and together had three children – Joe Louis, Jeremy Manuel, and Jaci Lydia. In 2005, they became parents to three more sons – Antonio II, Sean Matthew, and Edward Ray Guerra.
Juan and Cindy began married life in Norman and later moved near Cindy's parents in Washington, Oklahoma, where they lived for 40-ish years. When home from trucking, Juan enjoyed fishing, camping, and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. One of his favorite activities was helping coach Little League sports, mainly football. He enjoyed watching the Washington Warriors play and liked visiting with the other dads and coaches. He also was a big OU fan, much to the dismay of his Texas Longhorn fan cousins! He also enjoyed watching his Dallas Cowboys and was a diehard fan whether they were having a good or bad season.
Juan loved animals and nearly always had a "trucking dog". Over the years, he raised many pets, often dogs that were dumped out near his home. He enjoyed family vacations and took the kids to the beach, Six Flags, ballgames, and a highlight – tour of the Dallas Cowboys stadium.
He enjoyed seeing the country as a truck driver, but often lamented the time away from his family. He tried local jobs over the years, but the open road always called him back.
In 2018, Juan was diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver and his driving career ended. He bought a tractor and began making improvements to his yard and helping his family with theirs as well.
Juan and Cindy have 8 grandchildren: Aiden Wigley and JD Marrero, Aubrey, Jack, and Wyatt Marrero, and Slevin, Brantley, and Waylon Simon. Juan is also survived by many loving cousins, extended family, and friends.
Graveside services will begin at 10:30 am Friday, September 1, 2023, at the Washington Cemtery, located in McClain County, Oklahoma.

The world lost a great man. He always had a smile on his face when we´d see him, mom always told us stories of him and her growing up. My thoughts and prayers are with you
