Juan Antonio Quinones Alvarez, 74, of St. Augustine, FL, passed away peacefully at home on May 2, 2024.
A Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on May 27, 2024 at San Sebastian Catholic Church 1112 FL-16, St. Augustine, FL 32084. Father Heriberto Vergara and Deacon Santiago Rosado will be officiating. A Columbarium will take place on May 28, 2024 at San Lorenzo Cemetery 1635 US-1, St. Augustine, FL 32084 at 10:00 am.
Juan was born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico on September 9, 1949. He graduated from Escuela Superior Maria Cadilla de Martinez in Arecibo, Puerto Rico. Juan was married to Maria Luisa Munoz Quinones on July 8, 1972; they were married for 50 years.
Juan worked for Stimpson of Pompano Beach, FL for 35 years. He enjoyed playing baseball and softball and watching the Marlins. He was also actively involved in the Catholic Church. Juan was extremely involved in the lives of his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with his family and made it his priority to be there for them. He was always looking for projects to do around the house and loved helping friends and neighbors with their projects as well. He spent many hours making pasteles with his wife Maria. He will always be remembered for making the best pancakes according to his grandchildren. Juan was very quiet and humble and his demeanor was always welcoming to others.
Juan is survived by his wife Maria Luisa Muniz Quinones, his daughter Lilly Miranda, his son Juan Quinones, his granddaughters Gabriella Miranda, Anabella Miranda, Alexa Miranda and Eva Quinones, his grandson Jordan Quinones, his brothers Manuel Cotto Alvarez, Hector Quinones Alvarez, Jose Luis Quinones Alvarez and his sisters Olga Quinones Alvarez, Rosa I. Quinones Alvarez, Carmen A. Quinones Alvarez, his son-in-law Tommy Miranda and daughter-in-law Susie Quinones and other family and friends.
Juan is preceded in death by his father Domingo Quinones Cotto, his mother Rosa Alvarez Castro and his sister Laura Quinones Alvarez.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to San Sebastian Catholic Church at 1112 FL-16 St. Augustine, FL 32084 or through online giving at sansebastiancatholicchurch.com.
