Juan Sanchez, Jr., 83, of Uvalde passed away on February 26, 2024, at Uvalde Memorial Hospital.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 4, 2024, at 2 p.m. followed by a rosary at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
He was born on October 27, 1940, in Loma, Vista, Texas to Adelfina (Guerra) and Juan Sanchez.
He married Minerva De Leon on June 26, 1962, in Batesville, Texas.
He is survived by his daughter, Sylvia Sanchez of Uvalde; two sons, David Sanchez and Noel Sanchez and wife, Crystal of Uvalde; three sisters, Irene Perez of Chicago, Illinois, Geneva Placencia, and Maria Vasquez both of Uvalde; five grandchildren, Lidia Marie Sanchez, Chelsy Nicole Sanchez, Joshua Noel Sanchez, David Fuentes, and Diego Fuentes; great grandchildren, Anthony Lee Luna, Jr., Andrew Rey Luna, and Nevaeh Bell Luna; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Adelfina Sanchez; wife, Minerva Sanchez; two brothers, Reymundo Sanchez, Alberto Sanchez; two sisters, Anita Sanchez and Estella Mares.
Pallbearers will be David Hernandez, Jesse Cruz, Jose Luis Martinez, David Fuentes, Diego Fuentes, Joshua Noel Sanchez, and Anthony Luna.
Honorary pallbearers will be George Rodriguez, Tony Vasquez and Mike Cruz.
