Juanita "Nita" Forrest, age 81, passed away in Columbus, Ohio, on June 11, 2025. She was born on September 8, 1943, in Greenup, Kentucky.

Nita was best known for her kindness and compassion toward both people and animals. She lived a life of selflessness, always putting others first and taking joy in their happiness. Her guiding principles for life were keep a good attitude, stay calm, accept what life brings, and be patient and kind. She had the amazing ability to find four-leaf clovers.

Having grown up with little, Nita enjoyed finding bargains at flea markets, thrift stores, and yard sales-often buying with someone else in mind. She loved to knit and sew and cherished the beautiful quilts made by her mother.

Above all, Nita loved her family and friends deeply. Her warmth, generosity, and gentle spirit will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her son Gary Forrest (Lisa McGregor), daughter Michelle Avery, grandchildren Josephine Forrest, Alec McGregor, and Kate Avery, sister Darlene Thacker, brother Richard Holbert (Melanie), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cherished friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman Holbert and Anna Sylvia (Holbert) Ray, and her sister Loudea Straziuso-Gearing.

Per Nita's wishes, no services are planned. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a charity of your choice in her memory.
