Mrs. Juanita Louise (West) Goode passed away peacefully in her home on Oct 15, 2025 at the age of 86. She was born Nov 18, 1938 in Missouri, but ended up as a longtime resident of Gulf Shores, Alabama, where she lived for 32 years. A private graveside service will be held Tuesday at 12:00 pm at Orange Hill Cemetery.
Throughout her life, she dedicated herself to helping others and working hard. She began her career as a nurse and later served as a supervisor at Schnucks grocery stores before moving to Alabama. After settling there, she owned and operated a Hallmark store with her late husband, Nathaniel Goode, who passed away in 2005. Juanita remained devoted to his memory and faithful to him for the rest of her years.
She was also a passionate supporter of numerous non-profit organizations, especially those dedicated to animal welfare. Her generous contributions supported groups such as the Wounded Warrior Project, the National Audubon Society, The Seeing Eye, and many others.
Juanita’s love for animals was a constant throughout her life. She cared for many beloved pets over the years, including three Sheltie dogs who brought her great joy. She lived a joyful and giving life, is survived by her two stepchildren, and will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
