Miriam Juanita Murphy, age 89, of Belton, SC, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at her home.

Born June 21, 1936, in Anderson, SC, she was the daughter of the late Elbert Earl Nichols and Omah Josephine Shope Nichols. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Shawn Smith; and brothers, Kenneth Nichols and Jackie Nichols.

Juanita, affectionately known as "Neeney", attended Forrest College and worked for Orr Mills and Owens Corning Fiberglas early in her career until she began raising her family. After her children were grown, she entered the workforce again joining her mother in operating their family business Starlight Residential Care until her retirement. She loved to travel and had been able to visit all 48 of the continental United States. A few of her favorite pastimes were eating at Mama Penn's and shopping. She also loved birds and raising her parakeets. Above all, Juanita was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who was devoted to her family. She was a member of Belton Pentecostal Holiness Church.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 72 years, Joe Thomas Murphy; children, Teresa Murphy Smith (Joe), Barry Murphy (Jane), and Marty Murphy (Amy); grandchildren, Nathan Murphy, Seth Murphy, Chance Wallace, Chayse Wallace, and River Reid; great granddaughter, Scarlett Murphy; nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at 4:00 pm at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Mike Harrell officiating.

The family will be at the residence.
