Judith Barker Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home on Feb. 23, 2026.
Judith Ann Casto Barker, 83, of Spencer, West Virginia, born May 17, 1942, left this world on February 18, 2026, after an extended illness at Roane General Hospital.
Judy was preceded in death by her loving husband, William Estus Barker; her parents, Ruby and Charles Casto; her grandparents, Dolly and Happy Walker, who raised her during her childhood; and her sisters, Sharon Boggs and Melanie Martin.
She is survived by her children, Brian (Joyce) Barker, Kolleen Bradley, and Alicia (Rodney) Coon; and a special son she claimed as her own, Terry (Deana) Kendall, all of Spencer. One step-daughter, Sherri Murphy of California. She also leaves behind her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy and pride to her life. Eric, Nicole, Maddox Barker. Meagan, Mya, Rhett, and Beau Freeland. Nathan, Christy, Cam, and Pyper White. Shandi White. Austin Coon. Taylor, Jamie, Maddox, London, Liam, Finn, and Quinn Juftus. Hunter Bradley. Chasity, Mike, and Archer Jones. Courtney Bowman. Willie, Ali, and Farrah Bowman. She is survived by her sister, Connie Henson, along with many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend special thanks to lifetime neighbor and dear friend, Trish Barnhouse, for her constant friendship and love.
Judy will always be remembered for rocking on her porch and waving to everyone who passed by - a simple gesture that reflected her love for people and a warm sunny day.
She worked at the former Beagle Drug Store and later retired from Rite Aid. However, many will remember her best as the welcoming face of Hot Rod's Arenacross, where she greeted everyone with an enthusiastic smile that made each person feel special.
Per Judy's request, she will be cremated and laid to rest with her beloved husband, Estus. There will be no formal service. Instead, the family will gather in the spring at the foot of Blackwater Falls to disperse their ashes - a place that held special meaning, as Estus and Judy spent many of their anniversaries there.
Judy's kindness, warmth, and unwavering love for her family and friends will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
