Judith Black Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, Inc. - Morehead on Feb. 8, 2026.
Judith Goodman Black, age 79, of Wayne Black Road, Clearfield, was born June 23, 1946, in Rowan County, and entered her eternal home on February 7, 2026, surrounded by peace in the comfort of her home.

Judith was a woman of unwavering faith, quiet strength, and timeless grace. A true woman of God, she lived her life rooted in love, kindness, and service to others. She carried herself with class and humility, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met.

Known affectionately as "Nannah," she earned that name not only from family, but from everyone who knew her. To many, she was a source of comfort, wisdom, and unconditional love, welcoming all as her own.

In 1962, Judith married her partner, Wayne. Together they shared many years of life and family, building a foundation that shaped the generations that followed.

In 1970, Judith proudly became the first graduate of Tri State Beauty Academy, marking the beginning of a lifelong career as a cosmetologist. In 1978, she founded and opened The Salon & Day Spa, where Merle Norman Cosmetics was always a part of her business. With 55 years in the beauty industry and 48 years as a salon owner, the lives she touched are beyond measure.

Judith was always impeccably put together, rarely seen without her makeup and signature lipstick. She was proudly known as a "Merle Girl," believing that looking your best was a reflection of confidence, self-respect, and care for others-a philosophy she shared with everyone she met.

Working alongside her daughter, Lisa, Judith built more than a successful business-she built a legacy. Her salon became a four-generation cornerstone within the community, employing family members and friends alike and serving as a place of warmth, encouragement, and care.

Judith was a devoted mother and grandmother whose role in her family went far beyond titles. She is survived by her son, Timothy, and his wife, Jody; her daughter, Lisa; her three granddaughters-Kourtney and her husband, Jacob Martin; Halle and her husband, Trevor Stone; and Lindsi Alivia Litton-and by her two great-grandchildren, Ava Martin and Knox Martin. She is also survived by her brother, Donald Goodman, and his wife, Shirley, and her brother, Ronald Goodman, and his wife, Maria, of Morehead. She was lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edith Riddle Goodman and Robert Goodman, and her brother, Larry Goodman, and his wife, Charlene, of Niles, Ohio.

A devoted community member and a gracious presence to all, Nannah's life reflected compassion, dedication, and love. A loyal member of Slab Camp Christian Church for many years, her legacy will continue to live on through the many lives she touched and the family she so deeply cherished.

A celebration of Judith's life will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Greg Bowman and Brother Charles Moore officiating.

Following the service, Judith will be laid to rest on her own farm in the McClain-Arnold Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Troy Perkins, Kevin McKenzie, Terry Wallace, T. J. Wallace, Neal Conley and Clay Withers. Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Goodman, Carrie Maky, Peggy Moore, Sheila McKenzie, and Heather Breeze.

Visitation for Judith will be on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
