Judith “Judy” Brander, age 85, of Two Harbors, MN, passed away peacefully on August 3rd, 2025. Born on February 17, 1940, in Segog, Judy spent most of her life in the close-knit town of Two Harbors, where she became something of a local celebrity. For over 30 years, she worked at the local TownMart, where she greeted customers with her signature warmth and wit. Everyone in town knew Judy—and everyone loved her.
A proud and lifelong Lutheran, Judy found joy and fellowship in attending quilting club and Sunday services with her close friends. She was also a devoted member of the Moose Lodge, where you could find her every Friday night with her bingo gang—laughing, playing, and keeping everyone on their toes.
Judy will be remembered as a gracious and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She had a way of making people feel seen and welcomed, and her stubborn Swedish-Finnish spirit was legendary in the best way—something her family fully intends to keep alive in her honor. Her legacy of kindness, humor, and unwavering love will carry on through those who knew her. She was one of a kind, and she will be dearly missed.
Judy is preceded in death by her second husband, Robert A. Brander, stepson Robert T. Brander, and son Michael Brander.
Judy is survived by a daughter Wanda Brander; a son Raymond Brander; a granddaughter and husband Echo and Austin Vind; and a great granddaughter Raina Vind.
Services will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, August 7, 2025 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Two Harbors., followed by burial in Lakeview Cemetery. To share a memory or leave an online condolence visit www.cavallinfuneralhome.com.
