Kalliopi "Danikas" Brander

Kalliopi (Danikas) Brander, 75, of Vernon, passed away Tuesday December 2, 2025. Born in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Denis and Alexandra (Likidou) Danikas.

Kalliopi spent most of her life in West Hartford, Connecticut. She was fiercely proud to be Greek American and loved Greek culture and history. She earned her Master's degree in English literature from the University of Hartford and was a Sunday School Teacher for 18 years at her church. Kalliopi's interests included mythology, fine art, and theater. She enjoyed raconteuring, playing scrabble, and rooting for the underdog.

She admired her brothers immensely and missed her parents deeply. Surviving is her son, Peter Brander and his wife Kerry of Marlborough, and her brother Peter Danikas of New London. She was predeceased by her brother, Alky Danikas.

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at Vernon Manor for their compassionate care, professionalism, and dedication during Kalliopi's final journey.

Funeral services are Monday December 8, 2025 10AM at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 301 West Main Street, New Britain. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Hastings On Hudson, NY. Calling hours are Monday from 9am until the time of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Connecticut Humane Society, 701 Russell Rd, Newington, CT 06111.
