Obituary of Judith A. Ceci
Judith Ann Ceci
(née Smith)
Judith Ann Ceci (née Smith), born on April 24, 1945, in
Boston, Massachusetts, departed this world peacefully on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at the age of 80. Adopted at 6 weeks old by Esther Marjorie and George Robert Smith, who loved her dearly, Judy grew up in
Palmer, MA where she attended local schools and graduated from Palmer High School.
In 1965, she married Dennis Louis Ceci, and together they built a life in
Channahon, Illinois, after initially moving to Joliet. They were blessed with two children, Brian Robert Ceci and Denise Marie Ceci, whom they raised with love and care.
Judy's career was diverse, spanning several fields, including banking. She dedicated many years as a financial aid counselor at Joliet Junior College, where her expertise in the U.S. and Illinois financial aid programs helped countless students achieve their educational dreams. Her colleagues and students held her in high regard for her thoroughness and dedication.
A passionate reader, Judy had a particular fondness for mystery novels. She was an avid sports enthusiast, especially enjoying college basketball and the final four, and had a deep love for animals. Her home was often filled with the joy of greyhounds, which she adopted and supported through Midwest Greyhound Adoption. Later, she welcomed a Chihuahua mix named Belle, who was her constant companion.
Judy's creativity shone through in her love for making jewelry, and she delighted in showering her grandchildren, Alexia and Braeden, with gifts. She cherished conversations with her close friends and family, always ready to lend an ear or offer support. Her generosity and warmth touched the lives of many.
Travel was another passion of Judy's, and she was fortunate to visit France and Spain later in life, experiences she treasured deeply. She also loved all kinds of music and had an affinity for Celtic music. Taking her granddaughter Alexia to see Celtic Thunder in concert was a highlight.
Judy is survived by her devoted husband, Dennis; her children, Brian and Denise; her daughter-in-law, Suzy; and her cherished grandchildren, Alexia and Braeden. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Esther and George.
In God Almighty's infinite wisdom, Judy was called home. She will be deeply missed by her loving family, longtime friends, and caring neighbors. May her memory be honored and forever cherished.
