Jude's journey began in Detroit, where she started her first job at Cunningham's drugstore as a soda jerk, a position she held dear. At just 18 years old, she was a runner-up for Miss Michigan and enjoyed a brief career as a model. As a devoted mother of four, Jude balanced her family life and nurtured her professional aspirations, eventually becoming a skilled bookkeeper at Union 76 and later finding joy in her work at Molesta Floral in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Her education began at the Immaculate Heart of Mary, an all-girls school in Detroit, and continued at Grand Rapids Community College, where she focused on accounting and bookkeeping. This dedication to her studies was a reflection of her commitment to excellence in her career.

What defined Jude was her non-judgmental and accepting nature. She embodied a spirit of love and compassion, always ready to lend a hand to those in need. Her joyous personality lit up every gathering, embracing traditions and ensuring that every holiday and birthday celebration was special for family and friends. Jude had a passion for decorating her home and gardens, showcasing her flair for hospitality.

Above all, she was a devoted wife to Walt Chaffee, with whom she shared a deep and everlasting bond. Her friendships with Rose Wekwert and Barbara Cone were akin to sisterhood, enriching her life with shared celebrations, laughter, and countless cherished memories. Jude found delight in reading, especially the works of Janet Evanovich, and enjoyed keeping up with the Grand Rapids Press, often immersing herself in crossword puzzles just as her father did.

In her leisure time, Jude cherished playing card games, Scrabble, Cribbage, and Yahtzee with her family, underscoring her love for connection and shared experiences.

Great Grandchildren: Tyler Kole, Owen Kole, Jacob Flores, Louis Flores.
