Judith (Judy) Miller Curry, 84, of Anchorage, KY passed away on Saturday, July 16th surrounded by loving family. Judy was born September 1, 1937, in Scotia, New York to Halbert B. Miller and Irma Bayless Miller. She grew up in Scotia, New York until her junior year in high school when she moved to Louisville and attended Atherton High School, graduating in 1955. She would go on to attend Hanover College where she was a member of Phi Mu sorority and graduated in 1959 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. While at Hanover, she met and fell in love with James Curry, and they were married shortly thereafter. Judy was a preschool teacher for 15 years at Highland Presbyterian Weekday School, where she enhanced the lives of many young children. Jim would go on to become a doctor of radiology, and they would eventually settle in Anchorage, where they raised their three children. Judy was a devout and active member of Anchorage Presbyterian Church, where she served as a church Elder, enjoyed teaching Sunday School and volunteering. She enjoyed being a member of Owl Creek Country Club where she won the nine hole club championship. Judy was also a member of PEO philanthropic organization concentrating on the advancement of women. Judy was a huge fan of the University of Louisville, especially the Lady Cardinal basketball team. She enjoyed being a docent at the Louisville Zoo and volunteering for the Ronald McDonald House. Judy was especially fond of her six grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Judy was happiest when her family was gathered, and she could enjoy spending time with each of them.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Woodward Curry, M.D. and by her parents.
Judy is survived by her three children, Catherine Pittelko (Jon) from Crestwood, Kentucky; Jennifer Hoertz (John Waller) from Louisville, Kentucky; James Curry, Jr., from Memphis, Tennessee; six grandchildren, Hannah, Drew, and Ben Hoertz; James and Alicia Pittelko, and JW Curry, and two brothers, Hal Miller from Ft. Myers, Florida and Bill Miller from Greeley Colorado.
Funeral services will be 11am, Friday, July 22nd at Anchorage Presbyterian Church, 11403 Park Rd. Anchorage, KY.
A life of love and caring will be celebrated with a visitation 4pm-7pm. on Thursday, July 21st at Pearson's, 149 Breckenridge Lane Louisville, KY.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in the name of Judy Curry to the Ronald McDonald House https://rmhc-kentuckiana.org/?form=keep-families-close and the Louisville Zoo https://louisvillezoo.org/give
Arrangements under the direction of Pearson's, "Where Louisville Goes To Remember".
