Judith Devall Chambers Obituary

Judith "Judy" Dayle Devall Chambers, 82, of Smithdale, Mississippi, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, July 18, 2025, following a long illness.
Born on July 20, 1942, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, she graduated from Istrouma High School in 1960. Judy was a woman of deep faith, having been a longtime member of Comite Baptist Church in Baton Rouge before joining Thompson Baptist Church in Smithdale, Mississippi, where she continued to worship and serve faithfully. Her joy was found in life's simple pleasures-most especially sitting by the water with a fishing pole, cork, and cricket, waiting for a bite.
She found peace in nature, joy in laughter, and purpose in loving others deeply. Her faith and love for the Lord were apparent throughout her entire life. Judy's life was marked by kindness, generosity, and a heart full of love for her family and friends. Her laughter-genuine, contagious, and often unforgettable-was a gift to all who knew her.
Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thelma Turner Devall and Fred James Devall.
Left to cherish her memory are her devoted husband of 63 years, Lawrence Lee "Larry" Chambers Jr., and their three sons: Donnie Chambers and wife Cindy, Lee Chambers, and Eric Chambers and wife Amie. Judy was the proud and loving grandmother of eight: Diana Chambers, Michael Berthelot, Eric Chambers and wife Jamie, Shane Chambers and wife Shawntel, Bradley Chambers and wife Jenny, Brittney Heine and husband Jeremy, Brandy Pense and husband Casey, and Lillie Chambers. She was also blessed with seven great-grandchildren who brought her endless joy: Cavin Chambers, Nadalyn Rodriguez, Ivana Chambers, Hayden Chemin, Emma Heine, Micah Pense, and Elliot Pense. She is survived by her sister, Jane Springer and husband Jeff, and brother, Keith Devall and wife Gail, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
A celebration of Judy's life will be held at Thompson Baptist Church, 5422 North Greensburg Road, in Smithdale, Mississippi, on Saturday, August 23, 2025. Visitation will start at 10:00 A.M. with a memorial service to be held at 11 A.M. led by Pastor Jim Bradford.
In memory of Judy-and all those we hold dear-may we live each day as a gift, full of love, laughter, and grace.

Yesterday

When we were growing up we lived on Greenwell Springs Road and had a horse named Bob. Judy was about10 years old and loved to ride Bob.
Every time she came over our old rooster would chase her and try to sink his spurs into her. Judy would scream and run. I can still see Judy and that rooster. Very fond memories of my cousin Judy.
