Judith Erlanger Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Acton Funeral Home on Jan. 4, 2024.
Judith Erlanger, 71, of Acton passed away peacefully on December 22nd. She was a very intelligent, caring, and kind human being, and was taken away from her family way too soon.
Judith was born in Providence, RI to the late John and Marjorie McCormick who immigrated to the US from England in 1949. Judith was raised with many British traditions which she embraced as she enjoyed her English heritage throughout her life. In Judith's early years she lived in Mystic Connecticut, and later Rumson, NJ. She graduated from Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School in 1970, and then she was among the first group of women accepted to Union College in Schenectady, NY which had previously been an all-male primarily engineering school. There she studied geology and environmental studies and she eventually worked as a nuclear planning engineer in companies such as Raytheon and Stone & Webster. Ultimately, she was the CFO of Philip Erlanger Research Co, Inc.
Judith shared a happy life with her husband, Philip B. Erlanger. They had many adventures together such as traveling to some of their favorite places which includes the United Kingdom, Italy, The Netherlands and Hong Kong. They also had great times attending music concerts, traveling to different cities to see their favorites such as Elton John, James Taylor, and ELO. The Erlangers were die-hard New England Patriots fans and had season tickets for 26 years. They attended games in whatever the weather brought on game day, enjoying the whole football experience. They even flew to New Orleans to witness the Patriots win their first Super Bowl in 2002.
Judith was a proud dog mom to Blake, Worf, Valen, Rocky, Ellie, Sparkie, and Coco. Although she loved all dogs, Golden Retrievers were her passion. She spent many years field training dogs and their owners in multiple states and judging hunt tests. Judith always had a smile and positive outlook no matter how the hunt tests were going. She was well-respected in the Golden community, and will be greatly missed.
In addition to her beloved husband, Phil, Judith is survived by her siblings, Margaret (Rod) Sherman of Dennis, MA, Deborah (William) Kern of Guilford, CT, and John (Patti) McCormick of Woodstock, CT. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held at the Acton Funeral Home on January 9th from 11-1pm followed by a Celebration of Life.
At the request of the family in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Judith's memory to either the Alzheimer's Association or the Yankee Golden Retriever Rescue in Hudson.
