Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension for Judith Herman, 83, who passed away on Friday, March 8, 2024. Deacon Honey Becker and Vice-Rector Jordan Hylden will officiate the ceremony. Interment will take place immediately following the service in Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation hours will be observed at Walters Funeral Home on Saturday, March 16 2024 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Survivors include her daughter Holly (Shawn) Hernandez of Lafayette and their two children, Cade and Reece; her son Christopher (Rayna) Herman of Dana Point, CA and their son Blake; and one sister, Alanna Kay (John) Stadler of York, SC.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, George Randolph Herman; and her parents, Anne and Albert Skapin.
She was a native of Lorain, Ohio and attended Mt. Sinai School of Nursing. She was a practicing registered nurse for over 40 years in Connecticut & Rhode Island. Upon retirement, she and her husband George moved to Lafayette, LA.Judith was an active member of the Episcopal Church of the Ascension for many years, and Beta Sigma Phi International. She loved to be social and often cooked for friends and family. She enjoyed playing bridge, reading, listening to Neil Diamond, debating political views, and making endless lists. She loved to travel with favorite trips to Australia, New Zealand, and Alaska. She was a determined lady and once she set her mind to doing something, it got done. She was a force to be reckoned with.
Pallbearers are Blake Herman, Christopher Herman, Cade Hernandez, Kansas Hernandez, Reece Hernandez, and Shawn Hernandez.
