Judith Sharon Horton, 82, of Belle Rive, IL, passed away at 6:17 am October 31, 2025 at home in Belle Rive, IL. She was born June 19, 1943 in Saint Louis, MO to Maxine Marlow. She was adopted and raised by Anna Callahan. Sharon married Ross Horton on June 23, 1962 in Mt. Vernon, IL.
Sharon is survived by her loving Husband, Ross Horton; Three Children, Julie (Donnie) Cochrane, Joel (Cyndi) Horton, Steven (Janet) Horton; Ten Grandchildren, Daniel Ross (Anna) Cochrane, Blaine Cochrane and fiancé Kiffany Keen, Wade Cochrane, Brittney (Tim) Boldt, Gage (Danielle) Green, Mara (Sean) O'Donnell, Dane (Raya) Horton, Jovi Horton, Sophia Horton, Jamison Horton; Twelve Great Grandchildren; Two brother in Laws, Charles (Bernice) Horton, Bill Horton; Several nieces and nephews; special caregiver Marrianne Gee, hairdresser and friend Lisa Lynn.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parent Maxine Marlow and her adoptive mother Anna Callahan, sister in law and friend Karen Horton and grandmother Julia "Mimi" Pettit, Sharon was very close with her grandmother.
She was a member of the Belle Rive Missionary Baptist Church, an avid Cubs fan, loved sewing and volunteered at Bargain Box for years. She was part of the Red Hat Society and loved playing Bunco. Sharon was a founder of the Belle Rive Library, a member of Good Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary and the Belle Rive Flint Cemetery Board. She loved being a Teachers aid at Opdyke Belle Rive School, listening to Elvis Presley, and watching Cubs games.
A Visitation will be held, Monday, November 3, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Newell Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, IL. A Funeral Service will be held, Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Newell Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, IL with Richard McCormick officiating. Interment will follow at Belle Rive Flint Cemetery in Belle Rive, IL. Memorials may be made in Judith's honor to Belle Rive Flint Cemetery.
