With sad hearts, we announce the passing of Judith "Judi" Ann Hughes' 80, Fair Grove, MO. on September 16, 2024, in Mercy Hospital. She formerly lived in Springfield, MO. Judi was adopted by loving parents: Ray and Martha "Jean" Gresham. Judi was a homemaker, a graduate of Macon, MO. High School, and a member of the Faith Baptist Church, in Mumford, TN.
She leaves behind to mourn her passing, her husband of 61 faithful years Kenneth R. Hughes. Judi met Ken through a friend who introduced her to the young Navy Sailor who was attending Boot Camp. After exchanging letters for a while, Ken shortly declared her to be "The Love of His Life" It was the beginning of a 61-year long love story. Her husband was a 23+ year career veteran of the United States Navy, so the family moved around a lot.
During their moves to new locations, such as Tennessee, Missouri, Texas, Washington, and Virginia, Judi would always spot fishing holes and wonder if there were any good fish in them. She valued her time relaxing and fishing. She received several awards, most fish caught, biggest fish caught, first fish caught, all at The Millington Naval Base. She also enjoyed cooking, ceramic crafts, and watching cooking shows. She also had a collection of bears.
Husband Ken, son Shawn, and wife Krystal became her full-time caregivers, making sure Judi's time was lived to the fullest. They shared lots of memories and were by her side at time of passing.
Judi also leaves behind her loving children: son Shawn Hughes, born in Covington, TN. and his wife, Krystal Hughes, her daughter, Teresa, born in Everett, Washington and her husband, Beaux. her daughter: Susan, born in Macon, MO. and her husband, Ted. She is also survived by her six grandchildren: Logan, Masin, Tessa, Zachary, Landen and Braxtin, her nephew, Kyle and her niece, Callie, cousin: Cindy Kootz and her childhood best friend: Pat Bounchi.
Judi was preceded in death by her parents: Ray and Martha Gresham, her brother: Griff Gresham, sister-in-law: Dana Gresham, her sisters: Mary, Kathy, Elaine, Barbara, and her mother-in-law: Elise Hughes, her nephew: Corey Gresham and her grandson: Dalton Smith.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2024, in the Fair Grove, MO. Saddlewood Community Building.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
Judith dedicated her life to her family and home, creating a warm and welcoming environment for all who entered. Her kindness and generosity will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She was a loving Wife, Mother and Memaw. She will forever be fishing in Heaven.
