SHELTON, WA-Judith Jean Hunter, age 82, of Shelton, Washington, died Sunday, October 29, 2023, at Alpine Way Retirement Center in Shelton, Washington. Her life journey took her from Delta, Iowa, to the big city of Cedar Rapids. For many years, she lived there with husband, Ronald Hunter. When Ron’s job, FMC, closed its doors, Ron and Judy moved first to Corona and later settled in Riverside, California. They returned to Altoona, Iowa where Ron passed away in 2001. Judy returned with daughter Trudy and son Randy to the sunshine state of California. She settled in the San Jacinto- Hemet area for many years. When dementia began to complicate her life, Randy became her caregiver. He was a devoted, loving advocate for his mother when she was placed at Desert Hills Memory Care. Eventually, she moved to Shelton, where she could be cared for at Alpine Way, where Trudy is the Executive Director and an educator in Alzheimer’s and Dementia.
Family was her greatest joy in life. She loved her grandchildren very much, and was affectionately known as “Honey” by granddaughters, Phoenix Lee Ulrich (Michael), Dakotah Lee Hunter, Nicole Walters and great grandchildren Kimberly Ann, Xian and Ivy. She will be missed by neices, nephews, sisters in law Bonnie Mc Kinney, Mary Lou Zenor and her brothers in law Norm Zenor and Jerry Hunter.
Judy was preceeded in death by Leland Hunter Jr. (first husband), Ronald Hunter (second husband), Jeffrey Lynn Hunter (infant son), her mother Daisy Burtlow, father Nason Grant Burtlow, and siblings Dale and Betty.
Her struggles with dementia are finally over. We are confident she is rejoicing, renewed and reunited in Heaven.
