Judith Ann "Judy" Hurt

Judith "Judy" Ann (Doerr) Hurt, 84, Excelsior Springs, MO., passed away on February 16, 2026, at SageGrove at Tiffany Springs, formerly the Benton House of Tiffany Springs. Judy and Keith raised their family in Martinsville, MO., from 1972 to 1989, and returned "home" to Excelsior Springs in 1989.

Judy was born on May 16, 1941, in Kansas City, MO., to Charles Edward and Eva Rebecca (Mansell) Doerr. She graduated from Excelsior Springs High School in 1959. She married Wendell "Keith" Hurt on September 25, 1959. Keith preceded her in death in June of 2025.

Judy was a mother first and foremost and raised her children before entering retail work at Wal-Mart in Bethany, MO. After returning to Excelsior Springs, Judy transferred to the local Wal-Mart where she completed almost 30 total years of service before retiring. She was a faithful believer and devoted member of the Apostolic Lighthouse Church in Hamilton, MO. She shared on multiple occasions the immense pride and great joy it brought her to be a member of her son's church and listen to Jeff preach every week. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling with her husband Keith (when she could get him away from the farm) and with her other favorite travel buddy, her sister Jeanie. In addition to traveling, Judy loved listening to music, dancing, shopping, and in later years sitting to enjoy the flowers Keith had planted for her in front of their porch. After retirement, she spent precious time with her dear friends visiting restaurants and going out for coffee (hot chocolate for her) with "The Coffee Girls".

Besides being preceded in death by her husband, Judy was also preceded by her parents, her brother-in-law-Jim Hurt, and her sister-in-law-Joyce Doerr.

Survivors who will miss her dearly include her children: Rick (Karen) Hurt, Mike Hurt, Jeff (Rhonda) Hurt, and Dee (Giselle) Hurt; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; brother, Joe Doerr; sister, Jeanie (Bob) Murphy; and sister-in-law-Marilyn Hurt.

Celebration of Life Service-2 p.m., Thursday, February 19, 2026, at the Hidden Valley Funeral Home of Kearney, 925 State Route 92, Kearney, MO., 64060.

Formal Visitation: 1 hour prior to the service, 1 to 2 p.m., on Thursday, Feb. 19, at the Hidden Valley Funeral Home of Kearney.

Interment: Hillcrest Cemetery, Excelsior Springs, MO.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Apostolic Lighthouse Church, 7835 N. Highway 13, Hamilton, MO.
