Judith “Judy” Leigh Layson, 81, entered into rest on Thursday, May 9, 2024.
Judy was born on September 27, 1942, in Hempstead, New York to the late Walter and Lois Schnedeker. A proud alumna of Warner Robins High School, Judy graduated in 1960, cherishing the bonds formed with her classmates through the years, attending numerous reunions that celebrated their enduring camaraderie. Her professional path led her to Robins Air Force Base, where she served as a computer specialist for an illustrious 30 years, leaving a mark of excellence and commitment. Beyond her professional achievements, Judy's heart brimmed with love for animals, a passion that defined her. Whether frolicking at the beach or basking in the serenity of her home pool, she found solace and joy in the great outdoors. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling or visiting with her “Turtle Friends”, whose companionship brought her immeasurable joy. Her presence will be deeply missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by her first husband, Stanley Leaptrot, second husband, Frank D. Layson, and sister, Joyce Armstrong.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her daughter, Mimi Leaptrot of Warner Robins, GA, stepson, Dennis Layson of Bolingreen, KY, and siblings, Janet Wood (Dan) of College Station, TX and Walter Schnedeker (Sharon) of Warner Robins, GA.
A memorial gathering will be Saturday, May 18, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A memorial service will immediately follow at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home.
