Judith A. Mayo

Webster: Passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2023, at her home at age 83. She was born May 9, 1939, to William and Elizabeth (Backer) Bennett. She is survived by her husband, George; brother, Liam Bennett; and daughter, Carey Mayo. She is predeceased by her parents and her son, Christopher Scott Mayo.
Judie attended Webster High School (1956) and Potsdam College (1960) with a bachelor's degree in education. She married George (Skip) Mayo on August 6, 1960. Judie worked as an elementary school teacher in Owego, NY, Red Bank, NJ, Ardmore, PA, and Penfield, NY, and as preschool teacher and co-founder at Webster Presbyterian Preschool. She later co-founded a catering company and cooking school, The Cookery, with her good friend Marian Kretzer. She also made and sold hot pickles at the Joe Obbie Farmers Market in Webster.
Judie enjoyed cooking, aerobic dancing and exercise classes, attending GEVA plays, annual trips to Florida, playing bunco, volunteering at The Twig Shop at RGH, monthly breakfasts of the Webster High School Class of '56 and enjoying walks and time with her many friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held for family, friends, and others whose lives she touched at a date and place to be announced.
