Judith (Judy) McConnell died October 23, 2025 at Harris Regional Hospital at the age of 79.
Judy is survived by her brother Gene (Kathy), sister-in-law Ruth, nephews Gregg McConnell, Jeff McConnell (Michelle) and niece Kristy Bullock (Troy). She is also survived by 6 great nieces and nephews, Julie, Garrison, Gavin, Kaylie, Jake and Lilly. She was preceded in death by her father Charles McConnell Sr., mother Lena Pressley McConnell, and brother Charles McConnell, Jr.
Judy was born in Sylva, NC on May 30, 1946. She graduated from Cullowhee High School and Western Carolina University. Judy taught at Sylva- Webster and Smoky Mountain High Schools. She enjoyed spending time with her family, serving her church by teaching Sunday school and listening to gospel music. In her free time she also liked to shop and spend special time with her Shih Tzu dogs.
Judy was a member of East Sylva Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends at Appalachian Funeral Services in Sylva, NC on Sunday, October 26, 2025 from 1pm-2pm. Following the visitation, there will be a graveside funeral service at Fairview Memorial Gardens beginning at 2:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to East Sylva Baptist Church, 61 Faith Avenue, Sylva NC 28779.
The family would like to thank the workers at Skyland Care Center for their excellent care of Judy.
