Mr. Jim “JB” Bradley passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 21, 2025 in Cashiers, NC at the age of 77.

Jim is survived by his wife, Debbie Bradley; his daughter, Carey (Chaz) Hall; and his grandchildren Kahne Bradley and Emmersyn Britt. He is preceded in death by his son Michael Bradley of Cashiers (Wilmington), NC and his parents Carey and Mammie Bradley of Bradley Branch in Wilmont, NC.

Jim was born July 1, 1948 in Durham, NC. He graduated from Sylva-Webster High School in 1967 and joined the U.S. Marine Corps soon after. He served during the Vietnam war and was a double Purple Heart recipient. He married his beautiful wife Debbie on November 11, 1982 and they settled down in the Yellow Mountain community. After moving to Cashiers, Jim began a career in the building industry working for Bond Builders Supply and later retired from Jennings Builders Supply. After retirement he continued to caretake for a close family friend in the Oaks.

Jim was an accomplished backpacker and spent many years out in the woods. He loved walking the trails with nothing but a backpack and time to wander. Jim hiked the entire Appalachian Trail (GA to Maine) shortly after getting out of the service; accomplishing something that many people try and never finish. His love of backpacking and the outdoors was passed down to his family who spent many nights camping with family friends.

A memorial service will be held on June 20, 2026 at 2:00 PM at 2814 Yellow Mountain Road. All are welcome to attend and celebrate the life of Jim. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice in memory of Jim and his amazing life.
