Judith Pierce Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by U.C. Davis-Callahan Funeral Home & Aqua Cremation Center on Dec. 29, 2025.
Judith D. Pierce, affectionately known as Judi, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on September 21, 1938, in Chicago, Judi was the cherished daughter of the late Lincoln and Mollie (Succolo) Rosser.
Judi's early years were spent in the bustling city of Chicago, where she attended Fenger High School, graduating with the class of 1956. Her life took a beautiful turn when she married the love of her life, Richard "Dick" Pierce, on September 10, 1960. Together, they built a home in Morris, where they raised their three sons, Jeff, Barry, and Brent. During Richard's tenure as the Grundy County Sheriff from 1966-1970, Judi served as the matron and dispatcher at the courthouse. Her later years were spent bringing joy to the students and staff at Shabbona School, where she worked in the cafeteria until her well-deserved retirement. Retirement allowed Judi the freedom to explore her many interests and passions. She was an avid traveler, taking every opportunity to embark on new adventures with friends and family. She especially loved Europe. Judi's love for her family was boundless, and she relished in her role as a devoted mother and doting grandmother. Her grandchildren, Justin (Stephanie) Pierce of Mazon, Jared (Kaltrina) Pierce of Mazon, Kailey (Andrew Naughton) Pierce of Hampton,VA, Brendan Pierce of Morris, and Angela Pierce of Morristown,TN, along with her great-grandchildren, Jacob, Nicholas, Freddy, and Anna, brought her immeasurable joy and pride. Judi's social calendar was always full, as she was an active participant in her community. For many years, she volunteered her time at the Morris Hospital, the Morris Public Library, Grundy County Corn Fest and Immaculate Conception Church, where she was a devoted member. Judi rarely missed a Saturday church service as her faith was extremely important to her. She loved spending time with her gal pals. Whether it was sharing a cup of coffee, enjoying a leisurely lunch, attending musicals or rolling the dice in a game of Bunco, Judi loved to be at the heart of the fun. Judi was often the last one to leave a party, always ensuring that every moment spent with loved ones was cherished. Her daily walks down the towpath were a testament to her love for life and her commitment to staying active. Judi leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She is survived by her children, Jeff (Debbie) Pierce, Barry (Patty McGinnis) Pierce, and Brent (Kristy) Pierce; her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her brother, Bruce Rosser of Monticello, Indiana; sisters-in-law Judy Watters and Nancy Limbach; and numerous nieces and nephews who will continue to honor her memory by living life to the fullest. Preceded in death by her parents, her husband Richard in 2007, and her brothers Tom and Terry Rosser, Judi's spirit will continue to guide and inspire her family and friends. The family would like to extend our sincerest appreciation to Lightways Hospice and The Pointe for their kindness and loving care during Judi's illness. Memorials may be made in Judi's name to Lightways Hospice in Joliet. A visitation for Judi will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the UC Davis-Callahan Funeral Home in Morris. A celebration of Judi's life will follow at 12:00 pm.
