Judith "Judy" Pinckard, age 88 passed away Sunday, September 28, 2025.
Beloved mother of Stephanie Seabeck (Chris) and devoted 'Nana' to Ryan (Lauren Ledzianowski) and Evan (Lisa Helland). She was preceded in death by her parents William and Scotty Mann, as well as her beloved husband of 62 years, Jerry.
Judy was born and raised in Kansas, City MO, where she developed a lifelong love for tennis, sewing, and art. She attended Kansas State, and was an avid K State football fan. While working as a graphic artist for Hallmark, she met Jerry and they began their life together. Together, they relocated a number of times, finally settling in Chagrin Falls to raise Stephanie. Eventually, they moved to Hudson, then to Stow, where they would remain.
A woman of great faith and generosity, Judy put that faith into action as a dedicated member of the First Congregational Church of Hudson. She served in many capacities over the years, including serving as a Deacon and Deaconess, sitting on many boards and committees including Missions, Membership, Trustees, and the Columbarium committee, as well as serving as a mentor for confirmands.
Judy was a gifted artist. She was active in the Chagrin Valley Art Center, from helping get it established, to teaching preschool art, then to taking watercolor classes and participating in juried shows. Upon the family's relocation to Hudson, she became active in the Hudson Society of Artists. Also a gifted seamstress, Judy enjoyed quilting and sewing for her family; including making Stephanie's wedding dress, her grandsons' christening outfits, and countless halloween costumes for Stephanie, and later Ryan and Evan.
Always active, Judy loved participating in many outdoor activities with her friends and family, especially tennis and skiing. She grew up on the tennis courts, playing on the high school boys' team, as they did not have a team for girls. Over the course of her life, she belonged to many tennis clubs, and the winters in Hilton Head included daily games. Tennis was a true family activity, and she never missed one of Stephanie's matches. Giving tennis up at 70 was a very difficult adjustment for her. Skiing was another of her favorite activities; spending many weekends with Jerry and Stephanie on the slopes in Western New York and making trips out west with family and friends. Although back surgery sidelined her at 60, she loved to watch Evan and Ryan ski- almost as much as she loved to watch the Green Bay Packers.
When Judy was diagnosed with Parkinson's in 2011, she turned her energy to fighting the disease. She became active with In Motion, taking many classes and participating in support groups. Her favorite, though, was Saturday morning boxing with Stephanie, followed by lunch at the Winking Lizard. Everyone that knew her will agree that her fighting spirit and strong will kept her going for far longer than expected.
Judy brought light and laughter into the world. Her loving and kind manner made you feel that you truly mattered to her. Even when she lost the ability to communicate easily, she managed to let her friends and family know that she loved them and was thinking of them. Technology became an important tool for that, and everyone has a story about some of the crazy things she accidentally texted to them.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Vitalia Assisted Living of Stow and Traditions Hospice for the wonderful care they gave to Judy.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held Sunday, October 19 at 2:00 PM at the First Congregational Church of Hudson, 47 Aurora Street,
Hudson, Ohio 44236.
