Hurley - Judith H. Pokowitz, 84, a longtime resident of Rosendale and Ulster County, New York, passed away at home on Sunday October 12, 2025, in Hurley, NY. She was born on October 10, 1941, in Jersey City, New Jersey.
Judith is survived by her husband of 60 years, Dr. Walter Pokowitz; her children, Christine Pokowitz of New York City, Joseph Pokowitz of Nashville, Andrew Pokowitz of Stone Ridge, and Robert Pokowitz of Atlanta; and three beloved grandchildren, Elena, Colin, and Stephen.
A graduate and valedictorian of St. John's University in New York, Judith moved to Ulster County more than fifty years ago, where she became an active member of the community. She was a founding member of the New York State Sheep and Wool Festival, served on St. Peter's Church in Rosendale Parish Council, and was a successful local business owner.

Judith will be remembered for her intellect, warmth, and steadfast devotion to her family and community.

Visitation for family and friends will be 2 to 5 PM on Wednesday October 15 at the George J. Moylan Funeral Home Inc., 2053 Route 32, Rosendale. (www.GJMoylanFuneralHome.com) Her funeral will be held Thursday October 16, 9:30 AM from the funeral home and proceed to St. Peter's Church, Rosendale, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM. Rev. Amar Nagothu will officiate. Private interment will be at Ulster County Veterans Cemetery in New Paltz.
