Judith Puthoff Obituary
Judith (Judy) Ann Puthoff, 67, of Sioux Falls passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at Avera McKennan Hospital surrounded with the love of her Mom, 11 siblings and their families. A visitation will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Montrose, at 6:00 pm with the family present on Friday, September 22. A rosary and prayer service to follow at 7:00 p.m. Judy's celebration of life will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 23, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Internment will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery in Marion.
Judy was born on December 31, 1955 to Alfred and Esther (Viet) Puthoff in Sioux Falls. She graduated from Marion High School and went on to receive a degree from Nettleton College. Judy worked for Sears as a customer service representative for many years, before taking a position in childcare at the Boys and Girls Club. She found working with children extremely fulfilling, and would look forward to her grocery shopping on the weekends so she could buy treats and goodies for the children she cared for. She loved the children at Boys and Girls Club like they were her own. During her free time, Judy enjoyed doing word-search puzzles, playing cards, and board games with family. However, what Judy found most fulfilling was her love for her family and getting together to celebrate Holidays.
Grateful for sharing her life are: her mom, Esther of Canistota; siblings, Kathy Townsend of Canistota, Jeanette (Kenny) Powell of Harrisburg, Donna (Mike) Stewart of Salem, Theresa Peterson of Sioux Falls, Kenny Puthoff of Canistota, Kristy (Dan) Thielsen of Mitchell, Mary (Terry) Keiser of Sioux Falls, Deanna (Rach) Tieszen of Sioux Falls, Brian (Kathie) Puthoff of Harrisburg, Jeff Puthoff of Sioux Falls and Brad (Robin) Puthoff of Watertown; numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and three great-great nieces. Judy is also survived by her Aunts and Uncles, Marion Puthoff of Humboldt, Shirley (Orville) Matthies of Chancellor, Pete Viet of Sioux Falls, and Bob (Theola) Viet of Sioux Falls; and a host of many cousins.
Judy was preceded in death by her dad, Alfred, nephews, Matthew and Andrew Townsend, niece, Ashley Peterson, great niece, Jaycee Beckman, maternal grandparents, Peter and Elstienna Viet and paternal grandparents, Peter and Elizabeth Puthoff.
