Judith Ann (Beauchemin) Shepard, 80, of Gardner, passed away in the comfort of her home on Saturday, March 23, 2024.
Born in Gardner on November 13, 1943, Judy was the daughter of the late Raymond and Yvette (Levasseur) Beauchemin. She graduated with the class of 1961 from Gardner High School and became a registered nurse after graduating from Henry Heywood School of Nursing. Judy started her career as a surgical nurse in the operating room at Henry Heywood Memorial Hospital and had a very successful nursing career. Judy was the Director of Nursing for the Baldwinville Skilled Nursing Center for many years until her retirement.
Judy was a parishioner of Holy Rosary Church in Gardner. Her interests included quilting, stamping, and caring for the family’s pets. Judy was fond of spending time at her summer residence in Wells, Maine. She enjoyed volunteering at the Maine Audubon to protect the piping plovers at Drake’s Island in Wells. Judy loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Judy is survived by her husband, Robert Shepard, of Gardner; two daughters, Donna Long and her husband Eric, of Bradford, NH, and Robyn Shepard, of North Reading, MA; two grandchildren, Sarah Long of Pembroke, NH and Jacob Long of Manchester, CT; and a brother-in-law, Andrew Coveluzzi, of Cape Coral, FL. Judy was predeceased by her sister, Dianne Coveluzzi.
Judy’s family is appreciative of the wonderful care that was given by her caregivers Taylor Lashua, Lisa Provencher, Annette Santiago, and Colleen Gladden, as well as the team from Care Central VNA & Hospice.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, April 12, 2024, from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA, with a Mass at 11:30 a.m. in Annunciation Parish at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA. Burial will follow at Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon, MA, 01475.
Calling Hours will be held Thursday, April 11, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Safe Haven Humane Society, 1420 Post Road (Rt. 1), PO Box 91, Wells ME 04090 or the Maine Audubon, 20 Gilsland Farm Rd, Falmouth, ME 04105. Please reference in memory of Judy Ann Shepard.
