Judith Deanna Rainey Smith was born on November 30, 1940 in Hardin County, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Adley Franklin and Lou Ellen Clement Rainey.

She and her lifelong partner, Troy Wayne Smith, enjoyed singing and going to Country and Gospel dances. Judith loved to listen to Troy play music. Judith retired from Hardin County Middle School where she worked in the Cafeteria. She worked many years at Brown Shoe Factory and made alot of friends there. Judith was a member of New Harmony Baptist Church. She was the former secretary of the Copeland Foundation. Judith studied Genealogy research and found that the Copeland family was known for Copeland China dishes. One special skill that Judith was known for was her ability to sew. She enjoyed making quilts, but her custom drapes were often requested by both businesses and individuals that knew of her talent. She also held a floral certificate. Judith loved the Lord and reading the Bible. She was always friendly and happy to see her family and friends.

Judith departed this life on January 24, 2024 in Hardin County, Tennessee at the age of 83 years, 1 month, and 25 days.

She is survived by her daughters, Connie Brasher and Tammy Ganus Dawson and husband Tony; brother, Larry Joe Rainey; grandchildren, Kenneth Brashier of Memphis, Tennessee, Kyle Ganus of Corinth, Mississippi, Sarah Waddell, and Lacey Brashier of Savannah, Tennessee; and great grandchildren, Carter Robertson, Harlow Robertson, Emma Ganus, Case Waddell, Elijah Ganus, Chett Waddell, and Madison Brashier.

In addition to her parents and the love of her life, Judith was preceded in death by her brother, Bobby F. Rainey; sister, Jeanette Nelson; sons-in-law, Denny Ganus who passed away in 1989 and Don Brashier, who passed in 2021.
