Judith Steff Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Jan. 7, 2026.
Judith Lynn (Weyman) Steff, of Erie, formerly of McKeesport and New York City, died on January 6, 2026, at Nightingale Nursing and Rehab Center. Born June 11, in McKeesport Hospital, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Ruth (Herrington) Weyman and the wife of John Steff. Judith went to Highland Grove School, graduated from McKeesport High School, and graduated from Duquesne University School of Music as a voice major. She went to New York City to continue her education in classical music. She graduated from the Mannes School of Music, where she excelled in operatic music. She was then selected to be in the City Opera in New York City. Her operatic career took her to many countries around the world, where she performed the operas she loved. Some of the countries she performed in were Edinburgh, Scotland, Tel Aviv, Israel, and Sydney, Australia. After being very successful but wanting to do more, she returned to school and became a Registered Nurse, following in her sister's footsteps. She and her husband left New York City and moved to Erie, PA, to be with family. There she worked at the Veterans Hospital until her retirement. In addition to her husband, Judith is survived by a sister, Karen (the late Dr. R.) Mann. Arrangements were entrusted to Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory. A private burial will take place at Jefferson Memorial Park. It was a honor and pleasure to know Judith. Her musical talents were exceptional and Luther Memorial Church was certainly appreciative of her sharing her musical abilities. Judith was such a compassionate Nurse as well. May you sing with the heavenly chorus and rest in eternal peace
