Ileen Stevens, 77, of Normal, Illinois, passed away at 2:35 am Sept 5, 2025 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. She was born Dec 8, 1947 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois to the late Owen Russel Irvin and Elizabeth Ileen (Gammon) Irvin.
Ileen is survived by her husband, Gary Stevens of Normal, IL; her son Kent Stevens and wife, Loretta of Mt. Vernon, IL, daughter Kristi Regenhardt and husband, Tim of Mt. Vernon, IL, son Kelly Stevens and wife, Laura of Franklin, TN; grandson Chase Regenhardt and wife, Caitlyn of Mt. Vernon, IL, grandchildren Samuel and Sophie Stevens of Franklin, TN, grandson Blake Horton of Mt. Vernon, IL, grandson Justin Horton and wife, Arlene of Chicago, IL; great grandchildren Miles and Mya Horton of Mt. Vernon, IL; brother Roger Irvin and wife, Becky of Bartlett, TN; brother Terry Irvin and wife, Pam of Fulshear, TX; and several nieces, nephews; and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Ileen was preceded in death by her sister, Martha Flota.
Ileen was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. She was a gifted administrator and worked for several District 80 schools in Mt. Vernon, IL and Sheridan School in Bloomington, IL. Her attention to detail and love of children brought joy to all of the parents, teachers, staff and students she encountered throughout her career.
A visitation will be held Friday, September 12, 2025 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Newell Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 pm with Reverend Alan Smith officiating at Newell Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Memorials may be made in honor of Ileen to the Grace Christian Academy Fine Arts department and will be accepted at the funeral home.
