Judith Ann Valentini
Born: Apr 7, 1942 | Died: Jan 9, 2026
Judith (Judy) Smith Valentini passed away peacefully on January 9, 2026, with her loving husband of 62 years by her side.
Judy was born on April 7, 1942, to Louis and Elizabeth Smith in
Lutherville, MD. She is survived by her devoted husband, Theodore, Sr., children; Ted, Jr. (Sonie), Laura (Frank) and Michael; grandchildren Kaitlynd (Seth), Gennifer, Jacob, Jason, Hannah, Jessica, Jacson, Joshua, Megan, Maria, Derek (Monica), Austin, Kaya (Meagan); great-grandchildren Lucas, Emmett, Lincoln, Liam, London with many nieces, nephews and cousins all of whom she deeply loved.
Judy was a natural beauty, bright and accomplished excelling in school and completing her degree at Towson State College before marrying the love of her life, Ted. They met at a Lutheran youth group convention at the young ages of 14/15 and married on May 18, 1963. She never had eyes for anyone else and their life-long partnership and commitment to each other is a true love story. Judy and Ted embarked on their new life together with very little money, youthful naivete and a willingness to work hard. Their personal and professional accomplishments are too many to list, but through it all, Judy was the backbone of the family as she juggled her active kids, the household and various jobs. In her later years, Judy survived many health scares including stage four uterine cancer, but she always fought through those difficult times with a smile and strong faith.
Judy and Ted finally retired to their dream home in
Tellico Village, TN in 2000 and enjoyed their time together with world travel and relaxing sunsets on the lake. Some of her greatest joys were centered around her time with her beloved grandchildren. Judy had a heart and passion for service; it was her love language with faith and family being the focus. She always tithed and dedicated her time and talents to various church projects including becoming a Stephen Minister. She served her children by dedicating herself to their education and overabundance of extracurricular activities. She never sought out credit nor recognition for all she did; she just wanted to do and be a good force in the world. She also served those around her with her endless kindness and smile. We always hear from others that she was one of the kindest people they ever met. She made a point of acknowledging everyone around her and would always ask you about your day. She always thanked people for their help and truly meant it. She lived by these basic tenants; use less than you need, give more than you have and always leave things better when you are gone.
Matthew 25:21 Well done, good and faithful servant!
This week, there will be a private service of inurnment for the family. A celebration of life will be planned for a future date. For those who would like to honor Judy's memory, please consider a donation to the Community Church at Tellico Village, the
