Judith J. Wetherington

Judith "Judy" Wetherington passed away, here in Naples, Florida, on Sunday evening, May 18, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was 84 years old. Born on December 3, 1940, to Frank and Catherine (ne Singer) Douglas, in Glassport, Pennsylvania. Judy was a visionary and entrepreneur, and owned and operated many businesses, including the Pilot House, Guilis Landmark, the Musketeer and Nottingham Country Club in Pittsburgh, PA. She later went back to college to obtain a CRNA degree, graduating with honors in 1982, from St. Francis School of Nursing, La Roche College in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and worked for 30 years as nurse anesthetist in Lakeland and Naples, Florida. More than 20 of those years were spent in Obstetrics at Naples Community Hospital and North Collier hospital, performing OB anesthesia with her exceptional skill and great personal care, serving so many families in our community. Judy volunteered on Medical Missions trips to Boliva, Ecuador and Peru, assisting in anesthesia for surgeries. She finally retired at 75, after a long and successful career. She married Mel Wetherington in 1985. They enjoyed travelling, and travelled the world, exploring at home in their Piper Twin Commanche and abroad. Happily married for 39 years.
She is survived by her four children, Kimberly Walker, Louis Troiani, Tracy DiGiacomo and her husband, Dennis DiGiacomo and Julius Troiani and his wife, Sami Troiani and nine grandchildren, Natalie Navas, Jonathan Zesiger, Colleen Blackmore, Enzo Troiani, Ava Troiani, Giovanni DiGiacomo, GianCarlo DiGiacomo, Nicole Scholtz and Pamela Parsons.
Always a lady of prayer and great faith, a member of First Baptist Church in Naples. She has moved to heaven now. And we are the poorer for it.
Services will be held Thursday, May 22,2025 from 5-7:30 pm at Fuller Funeral Home 1625 Pine Ridge Rd Naples, FL. And Graveside at Oaklawn Cemetery, 1889-Wheeler St., Plant City, FL on Friday, May 23,2025 at 11:00am.
