Judith E. Willman, lifelong resident of Penn Hills, passed away on Saturday, September 13, 2025. Daughter of the late Raymond and Clover (Catley) Willman. Dear sister of the late Nancy Matthews. Beloved aunt of Douglas, Laura, and David Matthews, and cherished sister to her LDS church family
Judy lived her life her way: fiercely independent, gracious, charitable and with a loving heart. Judy graduated from Penn Hills High School in 1963 and earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Carnegie Tech before achieving a Master of Fine Arts in Music Theory from Brigham Young University.
After a brief experiment with desert life teaching music in Mesa, AZ Judy returned to Pittsburgh. She was a crafter, painter, and musician - a regular fixture for decades at the Ligonier Country Market, owner of Pane Art Advertising, and a member of numerous local orchestras, Judy cast a large net to touch the lives of hundreds. Except for the occasional idle moment she spent with a loving feline companion in her lap, few will remember her without a needle and thread, a paintbrush, or viola in her hand.
Our hearts are broken yet filled with joy knowing that Judy is reunited with family, friends, and treasured pets Annie, Panda, Pumpkin, Precious and Leo.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at MAURICE L. KNEE, LTD. FUNERAL HOME, 7663 Saltsburg Rd., Plum, PA 15239. An additional visitation will be held on Friday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 710 New Texas Rd., Plum from 9 a.m.. until the start of funeral services at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Allegheny Cemetery.
If desired and in lieu of flowers Judy's family suggest memorials to the American Cancer Society.
