Early morning on April 23, 2025 Judy Ann DiMartini of Severna Park, Maryland passed peacefully in her home with family present, at the age of 91. She had courageously battled a lengthy illness, always grateful for the care given her. She will forever be remembered for her gentle, kind and sensitive nature. She was attended round the clock by caregivers, all who became very attached because of her witty and loving personality. Her good friend Jean Marvel described her as "the best neighbor anyone could ever have." Judy always put those in her life first; she was an extraordinary home maker, mother, and later a registered nurse. She was supportive and hardworking, ensuring the comfort and needs of others.
Judy was born in Sun City, Kansas, October 13,1933. She proudly identified as a Kansan resident always having an intense fondness of her midwestern roots. Summer vacations were spent visiting her extensive family and friends in western Kansas. Family would routinely gather together at a rural homestead where food, fun and memories were shared. There were also cherished visits and camping trips with her cousin Deanna Luck, with whom she shared a special bond. Later in life she toured Europe multiple times with her good friend Judy Smith, and in 2022 took a last trip to Japan with her youngest daughter Andrea. This trip had a profound impact as she fell in love with the Japanese people and their culture.
Judy married Francis DiMartini May 9,1958 and together they had 2 daughters, Elizabeth and Andrea. She maintained the home she loved so much, creating a loving and supportive environment. She and her husband were long time members of Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church in Severna Park.
In 1978 she attended nursing school and practiced at the Shock Trauma Center in University of Maryland for 10 years. Her caring nature gained the respect of her many coworkers and patients. The outpouring of love and remembrance from former staff is a testimony to her legacy.
In the year 2000, she became a first-time grandmother, giving a great deal of her time helping to care for the granddaughter she was so thrilled to have. In 2004 a second granddaughter also joined the family. Judy lavished those around her with generosity, endless patience, home cooked meals, amazing gift wrapping and artistic skills. Her attention to detail and the ability to care for anyone who came into her life was remarkable.
She is survived by her husband Francis, of 67 years, daughters Elizabeth and Andrea, granddaughters Antonia and Jenna, sons in law Aldo Seren-Rosso and Sid Pant.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ralph Sr and Florence Canning, and a brother Ralph (Corky) Canning Jr.
If desired, memorial contributions can be made to Judy's favorite charities: Doctors Without Borders or UNICEF
A memorial service will be planned for the future.
