Helen DiMartini (Nellie) passed on October 6th surrounded by her loving family. She was an amazing woman. Intellectual, sharp, and caring with the ability to love those she cared about unconditionally. She was an animal lover and enjoyed ownership of her pets which she also considered part of her family.
Nellie retired from nursing after a thirty year career of helping others. She adored her human family too and was the matriarch of the DiMartini clan including her husband of 43 years, Dominic Jr., sons Dominic III, Casey Hays, and her daughter in laws, Martha and Mel in addition to her grandchildren, Dominic IV, Mason, and Maria. Nellie will be dearly missed by her siblings Herbert Malach, his wife Geli, and her sister Therese O'Connell and her husband, Vincent. She was an adoring Aunt to Patricia and her husband Ronnie and their son Jackson. She was always proud of her nephew John and always kept in touch with him no matter where he traveled to. Nellie's connection to her Aunts, Uncles and wildly wonderful cousins from Rockaway, NY was so deep that they were always a highlight of her life and she'd let you know that if you needed to know. She was very protective of them.
Nellie was so important to so many and will be missed tremendously. She was a strong and beautiful person.

New to the neighborhood (just very recently) and I felt so welcomed by Nellie. I knew her for such a short time but she made such a lovely and positive impact. I feel so lucky to have met her and so sad it was for such a short time. Such a warm, funny, and lovely person.
