Judy Langstaff Obituary

Published by Legacy on Feb. 17, 2025.
Judy Ann Langstaff, 77, of Columbus, OH passed away peacefully at home on February 15.
Judy was born in Lima, OH on November 17, 1947 to Donald C. and Joan M. (Weaver) Langstaff. After spending a few years in West Lafayette, IN and Chicago, the family returned to Lima where Judy attended school and graduated with the Lima Senior High School class of 1966, serving as vice-president of her graduating class.
Following high school, Judy studied at Ohio Northern University, and later at The Ohio State University, where she earned her degree in elementary education. Judy worked as an educator, teaching students in school districts including Lima, Columbus, Olentangy, Dublin, and Worthington. In later years, she ran a successful tutoring business where she continued to demonstrate her passion for working with children. Ms. Judy was just as concerned with building up a student's self-esteem and confidence as she was their academic success. She tutored numerous students from elementary school to high school graduation.
First and foremost, Judy was a mother and grandmother. Her family was the most treasured thing in her life, and her boundless love and unwavering commitment to them was undeniable. Judy believed in spreading kindness, inclusion, and love to everyone, often reminding you to "make one person's day better than it was before they saw you." She is survived by her sisters Linda Martin (Tom Varney) of Hilliard, OH and Susan (Greg) Monfort of Worthington, OH, her children Heather (Matthew) McCoy, of Columbus, Matthew (Kathy Milette) Butler of Worthington, and Andy (Cara) Butler of Canal Winchester, OH, grandchildren Kiersten, Jilian, Taylor, Kalee, Wyatt, Sam, Julianna, and Jude, a niece and four nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her former spouse, Steven Butler.
The family will hold a private memorial service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Judy's name to the American Heart Association.
