Hendersonville - Ms. Judy Plemmons, age 83, passed away Wednesday morning, January 7, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born March 30, 1942, in Frostproof, Florida, the daughter of the late Clyde and Pencie Sullivan.
Judy is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Pam Carland (Terry); her brother, Terry Sullivan (Janice); three grandchildren, Matt Garren (Shelly), Amanda Ledbetter (Cody), and Kandy Carland (Vince); and two great-grandchildren, Sawyer Ledbetter and Parker Garren. Her memory lives on through her nieces and nephews, Dawn Dykes (Dennis), Jim Barkuloo (Lisa), Fawn Taylor (Joe), Shanna Linaje (Jason), Kylee Odom (Marshall), and Chad Maybin (Tamara).
In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by her sister, Jean Barkuloo; her son, Rick McCall; and her husbands, Larry McCall and Earl Plemmons.
Judy was born in Frostproof, Florida, and later moved to Little River, North Carolina, with her late husband, Larry McCall, where they began raising their family. They eventually relocated to Hendersonville, where they purchased farmland, built their home, and became apple farmers. Judy cherished the many memories made during those years, especially their involvement with Fruitland Baptist Church. Larry passed away in 1974.
Judy later found love again with Earl Plemmons. Together, Judy and Earl enjoyed traveling between North Carolina and Florida, spending time with family and enjoying life together.
One of Judy's greatest joys was her active role in the lives of her three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, proudly taking on the role of "Nanny." She devoted countless hours to them by attending sporting events, walking golf courses by their side, and spending joyful days together at the swimming pool.
Judy enjoyed spending her free time playing cards and visiting Casino's, activities that brought her both joy and laughter. She also treasured the many memories made during her years as a member of Etowah Valley Country Club and Glenn Cannon Country Club, where she enjoyed fellowship, recreation, and lasting friendships.
Judy's legacy will live on through the many lives she touched, and she will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
Funeral services will be held 3pm, Sunday, January 11, 2026 at Fruitland Baptist Church with the Rev. Craig Stepp officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Shriners Children Hospital in Greenville, South Carolina. Check donations may be made to: Shriners Children's Greenville, Office of Philanthropy, 950 West Fair Rd., Greenville, SC 29605.
