Sandra Plemmons Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Madison Funeral Services on Jan. 14, 2026.
Sandra Hunter Plemmons, age 74, of Marshall, North Carolina, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 12, 2026, at the John Keever Solace Center in Asheville, NC, following a brief illness.
Sandra was born on August 29, 1951, to the late Bill and Helen Runnion Hunter. She was a lifelong resident of Marshall and held a deep love for her community.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Marshall, where she enjoyed singing in the choir, and she cherished her church family. Sandra was also actively involved in the Walnut Creek Community Center, where she was serving as president at the time of her passing.
Sandra deeply loved her family and treasured time spent with them. She especially enjoyed her Sunday afternoons spent watching football and races with Shane & Sherry. Her favorite holiday was Christmas-a fact anyone could attest to if they drove by her home in December or January. Summer was her favorite season, the hotter the better. She loved being outdoors, mowing her yard, and tending to her flower and vegetable gardens whenever she was able. A lifelong Elvis fan, Sandra loved his music and attended several of his concerts. Anyone near her home could attest to that as well, as Elvis could always be heard playing while she worked outside in her yard.
After completing cosmetology school, Sandra began her career working for Sheila Ramsey and also substituted in the cosmetology department at Madison High School. She continued her education throughout her career by attending classes and industry shows to better her craft. During her 54 year career Sandra owned her first two shops in downtown Marshall and was operating there during the flood of 1977. In 1980, she moved her shop to her home, where she continued serving her clients until April 2025. She also taught cosmetology at Alpha Beauty School for two years and at Mayland Technical College for seven years, all while keeping her shop open. In addition, Sandra enjoyed being a sales representative and recruiter for Princess House for many years.
Sandra is survived by her son, Shane Plemmons (Sherry Bradburn) of Leicester; two brothers, Jerry Hunter (Loretta) and Michael Hunter (Kathy), all of Marshall. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews: Tracy, Jerri, Mike, Caleb (Amanda), and Dakotah Hunter (Michael Sprinkle), along with their children Chance, Tucker, Dallas, Austin, Aubrey, Reagan, and Gavin Hunter, and Laurel Sprinkle.
The family finds great comfort in knowing that Sandra now has a new body with no more sorrow and no more pain. She is in the arms of Jesus and reunited with her beloved mother, whom she had deeply grieved since her passing.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at the John Keever Solace Center for the excellent care provided to Sandra in her final days.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 17, 2026 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm in the Chapel of Madison Funeral Services.
A funeral service will take place on Sunday, January 18th at 2:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Dusty Black officiating. Burial will follow in the Runnion-Ramsey Cemetery, located above the home in which she was raised on Walnut Creek Road in Marshall.
Flowers are accepted, or memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Marshall 53 South Main Street, Marshall, NC 28753 or Walnut Creek Community Center c/o Priscilla Scott 2577 Walnut Creek Rd, Marshall NC 28753.
