Judy A. Ranes, age 74 of Antwerp, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2025 at ProMedica Toledo Hospital.
She was born in Defiance, Ohio on March 28, 1951 to the late Donald and Margaret (Miller) Schaffer. Judy was a 1969 graduate of Fairview High School. On July 27, 1991 she married William "Bill" Ranes who survives.
Judy worked as a Custodian for Defiance City School for 16 years until her retirement. She was a very outspoken person and loved her family with everything she had. Judy always helped others the best she could if she knew they needed help. She loved to play pool, spend time with her family, go camping, and go around on her golf cart picking up aluminum cans with her grandkids. She threatened to shake the crap out of you if you'd pick on her too much!
Judy is survived by her loving husband Bill Ranes of Antwerp, and her children, Jerimie Dotson of Defiance, Joyce (Dan) Snyder of Bryan, and Jody Swank of Hicksville. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, her brothers, George (Rhonda) Schaffer of Hicksville, James Schaffer of Paulding, Chris (Patty) Schaffer of Paulding, and her sister, Pam (Rick) Spangler of Bryan.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Bob Schaffer.
Memorials are suggested to William Ranes to assist the family with expenses.
