Mrs. Judith "Judy" Lee Kilgo Roberts, age 79, of Muscadine, AL, passed away on September 28, 2024. She was born October 25, 1944 in Cullman, AL to the late Lee Ellis and Virginia Evelyn Tankersly Kilgo. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gary Jack Roberts, Sr.; son, Gary Roberts, Jr.; and siblings, Kathy Bailey and John Kilgo.
Judy graduated from Tallapoosa High School in 1962. She played French horn in the band, and she was a majorette. She was STAR student of her senior class, and she had lots of fun stories about her classmates. She attended the University of Georgia, where she continued as a majorette, and then she transferred to West Georgia College, where she graduated with a degree in English and education. She taught at several different schools throughout the years, and after she retired from public education, she taught Christian preschool. She married her soul mate, Jack, on March 5, 1966, and they were married for 53 years. Her family was her greatest love and proudest accomplishment. She was the epitome of a mother's perfect love, and she always put her family's needs ahead of her own. She also loved her church family, her neighbors, and her friends. She taught Sunday School for decades, and she absolutely loved helping choreograph the Christmas plays at Antioch! She was a light to all who were blessed to know her. She was funny, smart, compassionate, talented, and beautiful. She wasn't afraid to say what was on her mind, and she was a fierce champion for those she loved. She loved music and had an incredible alto voice, and she loved cheering for Alabama. Most important of all, she loved her God, and she knew without a doubt where she was headed when her journey here was complete.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Nicole Roberts, of Nolensville, TN, Lauri and Kevin Tapley, of Dahlonega, GA, Tara and Bill Robinson, of Tallapoosa, GA, and Matthew and Alisha Roberts, of Muscadine; grandchildren, Jack and Brooklyn Roberts, III, Alex and Lily Roberts, Mitch Roberts, Jake Roberts, Ronnie Thompson, Wyatt Thompson, Gus Tapley, Emily Tapley, Evan Tapley, Molly Robinson, Colt Roberts and Remi Roberts; great-granddaughter, Rose Roberts; and her beloved Roxie.
Celebration of Life services will be held Monday, September 30, 2024 at 2:00 PM EST from Miller Funeral Home Dogwood Chapel with Ronnie Thompson and Rev. Kevin McAdams officiating. Music will be provided by Tara and Molly Robinson and Johnny Wright.
Inurnment will follow at a later date in Campground Methodist Church Cemetery.
Her family will receive friends Monday, September 30th, from 12:00 PM EST to 2:00 PM EST.
