Judy Stevens Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, Inc. - Morehead on May 18, 2025.
Judy Elaine Moore Stevens, age 83, of L Stevens Road, Morehead, widow of Lynden Stevens, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 16, 2025, at UK-St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead.
Born July 26, 1941, in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Ted and Edith Moody Moore. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Lynden Morris Stevens, on August 22, 2014, and a grandson, Todd Fannin.
Judy is survived by one son, Tim Stevens, and one daughter, Tammy Fannin, both of Morehead; five grandchildren, Shane Stevens, Sara, Hana, Jason, and Jeremy Fannin; 11 great-grandchildren, Sawyer, Colt, and Sloan Stevens, Jayme, Cole, Ani, Jasmine, Jadelin, Jaylie, Journey, and Jaxon Fannin; one sister, Diana Kay Bowman of Morehead; as well as extended family and friends.
Judy Stevens started her career at Farmers Elementary as a cook in the Rowan County School System in 1974, putting a smile on all the children's faces for 26 years. She then became the new head cook at Rodburn Elementary. She was excited to be working at a new school, greeting new kids, and working with better equipment. She enjoyed her time and made many lifetime friends there. In 2004 she retired--but never stopped cooking.
She enjoyed working in the garden, canning food, and helping in the hay field with her husband, Lynden. Judy always loved making supper for the family after a long, hard day at work. There would be evenings that Lynden would say "you know what would taste good now", and she would always know what he wanted: jowl meat and cornbread.
Judy never got tired of serving her Lord! Her love for God was never ending, and she always shared her testimony and blessings with everyone. She gave her heart to the Lord April 5, 1970, and attended Bluebank First Church of God. Judy traveled and sang with her husband, daughter, and son-in-law as "The Family of God Singers" for 20+ years. She served as a board member of the Bluebank First Church of God for many years.
Even during her last days, she never forgot the love she had for her Lord and Savior, and the worship songs never left her mind.
Judy was a devout Christian, a devoted wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She will be missed and lovingly remembered by her family, church family, and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with her pastor and friend, Jeff Fannin, officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Ken Mullins, Tom Woods, John Perkins, Todd Moore, Tim McKinney, and Jesse Ginter.
Visitation for Judy Stevens will be from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
