SSgt Jules Ermil Riesen (USAF, Ret.) passed away on October 15, 2024 in Tallahassee, Florida just days after his 97th birthday. He was born on October 9, 1927 in Birdseye, Indiana to parents Henry and Susie Newton Riesen.
A proud member of the United States Air Force, Jules served as an Air Policeman prior to his retirement and honorable discharge. Following his service, he joined General Motors where he served in many capacities before moving to Tallahassee to enjoy his much-earned retirement with his family.
Jules is now reunited with his parents and his beloved wife, Shirley Riesen, whom preceded him in passing. Survivors include his loving children Karen Riesen, Julianne Hewett and Christopher Riesen (Libby); grandchildren David Bayne (McKenzie) and Samantha Hewett; great-granddaughter Adelaide Bayne; sisters Ruth Stults and Lenore Miller as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members who will all miss his heart of gold, gentle nature and compassion for all.
Per Jules' wishes, no formal services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Big Bend Hospice in gratitude of their care during the end of his long, accomplished life.
Breanna Green of Bevis Funeral Home (850-385-2193 or www.bevisfh.com) is assisting the family with their arrangements.

Mr. Jules was like the dad I never had...always there when I needed him. I remember us both crawling around on our hands and knees pulling weeds before we realized even weeds are green so we started mowing them down. A wonderful man with a gentle demeanor. Rest in peace young fella
