Julia (Julie) Anne (Moniz) Boissonneau, age 82, died peacefully on February 21, 2025, in her home. Julie was born on October 17, 1942, in Fall River Massachusetts to Joseph Moniz and Rosaria (Costa) Moniz. She met and married Gerard R. Boissonneau on May 8, 1965, and remained in Fall River until 1968 when they moved to Plymouth, Massachusetts.
While in Plymouth Julie and Gerry raised their children and she worked at a variety of part time jobs over the years. When her youngest son was in school, she became a school bus driver which was always source of humor to us that the most directionally challenged person in the home was driving kids to school – yikes! She loved her job and being with the kids, especially during the holidays. She spent a lot of time with her two grandsons and helped spoil them both.
Julie loved to do crafts with her friends. Painting, sewing, crocheting and making cakes and chocolates were some of her favorite activities. She also enjoyed playing cards with her friends in the neighborhood, often playing all night long and wrapping up the fun in the early morning with breakfast. Neighborhood pool parties, clam boils and cook outs were her favorite past times as well. She loved to listen to music and her favorite entertainer of all time was Neil Diamond, who she got to see live in concert.
Julie and Gerry moved to Smithville Missouri after they both retired and enjoyed the friendly people here and learning about the area. They did some traveling and camping and spent time with their grandchildren here in Missouri and Kansas spoiling them as well. As much as she loved Missouri, she did miss one thing – her seafood. She was a wonderful mother, sister, and loving grandmother who will be missed greatly.
She is preceded in death by her mother Rosaria (Costa) Moniz, her father Joseph Moniz, and her husband Gerard Roland Boissonneau all from Fall River Massachusetts.
Julie is survived by her children Lisa (Boissonneau) Castner and son in law Joseph Castner; Gerard Boissonneau Jr.; Sheila (Boissonneau) Roche and son in law Kenneth R. Roche; Steven Boissonneau and daughter in law Tabitha (Covey) Boissonneau; grandchildren Jared Boissonneau, Kenneth B. Roche, Nicholas Castner, Henry Boissonneau and Benjamin Boissonneau; brother Wayne Moniz; sister in law Judith (Souza) Moniz and multiple nieces and nephews.
A visitation is scheduled for Tuesday March 4th, 2025, at Park Lawn Funeral Homes at 1640 N State Route 291 Liberty MO 64068 from 5:30 – 6:30 pm, with a memorial ceremony to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Julie’s life.
